In this life, someone’s appearance is not always a true reflection of that person’s identity and state of mind, because appearance could be deceptive.

Similarly, social media platforms have programmed most people to focus mainly on sharing their awards, promotions, and accolades, but not the struggles and challenges they overcame.

Research has shown that the rate of depression has risen by 65% since the advent of smartphones.
This is not surprising because half of the world’s population are mobile Internet users and our emotions are affected by what we see or hear.

Most people are led by herd mentality; when they see other people posting about their achievements, and in contrast, they have not experienced similar achievements in their lives.
Such people would become discouraged and consider themselves failures.

This brings me to my main point; It is unproductive to envy anyone’s achievement without knowing the challenges they overcame.

This is because most people have perfected the art of putting on a great performance or a facade so that they can go with the flow of the people around them, whilst grappling on the inside with several issues.

It is hard work to live a fictitious life of continuously masking one’s true emotions because it puts so much pressure on a person’s mental health condition and general well-being.
So, if you’re reading this at the moment, I want you to just take a few minutes today and reach out to someone and find out how the person is really doing?

When it comes to dealing with the challenges and obstacles in life, it is how we respond to such circumstances that matters the most.

This brings to mind what my favourite book says, “Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
“Don’t let anything worry you or cause you pain. You are not going to be young very long’’
”Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own
.”

The central theme of these inspiring quotations from the Bible was the emphasis on ‘’Do not Worry’’

Hence, you can improve your mental health and well-being by focusing and being present at the moment (mindfulness) and enjoying your day, without worrying about the past or being afraid of the future.

In addition to this, you cannot change the past, but you can ruin the present and the future by worrying.

“ Why complain about yesterday, when you can make a better tomorrow by making the most of today? ”
