The Roadmap To Emancipation

Once upon a time a Giant emerged from the colonial empires of Britain, which stretched across the globe to the continent of Africa.

This Giant became known as the Giant of Africa and there was so much expectations friom other Africans who looked upto this Giant as their Big brother.

During the colonial era, this Giant led the Pan-African movement that fought for the independence of Africa from the colonial empire.

However, after 62 years independence, Nigeria which was once considered the Giant of Africa has become the shadow of its former glory.

What went wrong with this Giant of Africa?

As Nigerians celebrate their independence from the British colonisation, I would like to say Happy Independence Celebration.

However, the question still remains, “What Benefits has the 62 years of Independence delivered to Nigerians?

With the level of insecurity, high cost of living, dilapidated education system, and all manner of crimes at the highest peak, is there still hope for the Redemption of the Giant of Africa?

Bob Marley in his Redemption Song echoed the inspiring words of Marcus Garvey, a Black Nationalist leader and Pan-Africanist;

“We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is your only ruler, sovereign. The man who is not able to develop and use his mind is bound to be the slave of the other man who uses his mind…”

This brings me to my main point; the major challenge to the emancipation and redemption of Nigeria and most African countries; is mental slavery in the form of neocolonialist ideologies, tribal, political, and religious affiliations, as well as limiting belief systems.

In addition to this, the culture of corruption that has become the mainstream and acceptable mindset in both public and private sectors.

From the pulpits merchants to the kingpins, people are desperately chasing the Mula (cashflow) at all cost, whilst dancing to the Bugha rhythm. What a country!!

Indeed things have fallen apart and the Giant of Africa can no longer perform as expected.

However, every transformation starts with the emancipation of the human mind from the shackles of all forms of limiting belief systems and dis-empowerments.

This is the major reason why in the coming election of 2023 every Nigerian must ignore selfish gains, and affiliations to religious, political, tribal and cultural sentiments that have kept them in mental and economic slavery under the manipulations of the same cycle of leaders and political parties (Neo-colonialists).

And vote for leaders (President, Governors, Senators, and Representatives) who can Lead the Transformation for the Redemption of Nigeria from the captivity of Hegemony and wicked politicians.

When you look at the three major candidates vying for the office of the presidency, one man stands out from the pack; his name is Peter Obi.

I am not saying that he is the Messiah, but he has the track record and antecedents to lead the transformation of the fallen Giant of Africa.

Therefore, for those who are entitled to vote, do so wisely for the right candidate. And in addition to voting, make sure you protect your vote from rigging, because Freedom is not given, it must be taken by force.
