According to Wikipedia, Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month.
It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
As we celebrate the Black History Month, I would like to share few thoughts with you on the topic I titled “How To Thrive in the Knowledge-based Global Economy”
I hope this would be of great value to you, as you read and reflect on the contents of this Newsletter.
Aristotle famously wrote, “The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.”
Alvin Toffler, the futurist, made one of the more prescient observations, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”
The world has transitioned from the era of physical labour and manpower to Knowledge-based Global Economies.
The Global Super-Powers of today are no longer the Empires and Monarchs with the highest number of plantations and slaves that work in their plantations and construction sites.
The Emerging Super-Powers of today, are those Nations, Cooperations and Entrepreneurs that leverage organised knowledge including Human and Artificial Intelligence to create and dominate the Future globally by extending and controlling the frontiers of knowledge and innovation.
This brings me to my main point; the major differentiating factor between those that succeeded where others struggled is due to Applied Knowledge.
Therefore, we can say that the Future belongs to those that created it Today by applying the relevant knowledge.
The former Prime minister of Britain Winston Churchill once said, ‘’The empires of the future are the empires of the mind.
This brings me to my next point, those that know will always rule over those that do not know.
Likewise, the Borrower (or follower) will always be a slave to the Lender (or Influencer)
This is why Leadership is synonymous with Influence. And this influence can be seen in the global economy, culture shaping, education system and so on.
However, Influence could be either good or bad, depending on whether the Knowledge applied has a positive or a negative impact on those being influenced.
This why you need to pay rapt attention to the information you feed your mind by the things you read, watch or listen to, because whoever influences you controls your mind.
I was reminded of the amazing statement from Nelson Mandela, “No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

At this point I would like to ask you the following questions;
Whose philosophy, principles and opinion has influenced your life?
Whose political, religious, cultural and personal philosophy shapes your belief system?
Has the influence made a positive or negative impact in your life?
My favourite book says, ‘‘You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Hence, any knowledge that does not empower you to become the Best Version of Yourself is a self-limiting belief and bondage that need to be debunked through the process of learning, unlearning and relearning.
If you need a book that will help you in the process of overcoming self-sabotage, I will highly recommend👉DAILY POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS: The Self-talk Therapy For Overcoming Challenges & Fears:

As the world transition into a knowledge-based Global Economy; many developing nations especially in Africa, have been kept in mental slavery and economic captivity by corrupt leaders and global institutions that took advantage of their ignorance to keep them in bondage.
Therefore, It is only when the right knowlede is applied for the benefit of Human Capital Development and Empowerment that the developing nations can be emancipated from their economic captivity and mental slavery.
In the words of late Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey, “We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind.”
“You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” Abraham Lincoln

This brings me to my final point; it is not everything that glitters that is gold.
To thrive in a Knowledge-based Global Economy, we need to continuously update our knowledge at personal, business and national levels.
On a personal level, you need Creative and Critical Thinking skills to able to critique and evaluate emerging technologies and determine how to apply or repurpose them to your benefit, instead of being disrupted by them.
Likewise, you also need social, emotional and spiritual intelligence to be able to evaluate the long-term impact of most mainstream popular ideologies and opinions that often look good at the face value but with hidden intentions.
Sometimes, it seems that when organised knowledge rises exponentially, the level of global economic disruption, polarisation, identity crisis, poverty, marginalisation and digital colonisation increase at the same rate.
This is because the Borrower (or Consumer) will always be a slave to the Lender (or Producer).
Therefore, to thrive in the Knowledge-based Global Economy, we need to create the Future we want to Feature, by leveraging our God given potentials to create abundance and disseminate empowering knowledge for the benefit of humanity.
The Future certainly belongs to those who created them today either for their personal profits or mutual benefits.
This is my opinion, what is your opinion?
